Graduate School Board

Overview

The Graduate School Board meets two to three times per semester. Administrative staff has the right to be present and express their views. Commissioners on the boards of the different Master's programmes of Social Sciences (SASAM) have the right to be present and express their views. Board secretary is Lucie Larssonova (Graduate School).

The range of joint faculty courses (SIM-courses) and questions common for the Master's programmes within Social Sciences (SASAM) shall be discussed once per semester by the Faculty Network of Directors of Studies. The Graduate School Board members are nominated by the Faculty Board and consists of:

  • Chairperson (Director of Studies, Graduate School)
  • Six commissioners (teachers or Directors of Study) from the following subjects: gender, sociology/social anthropology, sociology of law, development studies, social work, political science.
  • Programme directors for Development Studies, Global Studies, Social Studies of Gender, Politics and Society of the Contemporary Middle East and Social Scientific Data Analysis.
  • Five student representatives elected by the student union at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The board of Graduate School is assigned mandate to make decisions for SIM-courses and GDG-programmes regarding the following:

  • admission
  • admission to the later part of the programme
  • complementary admission
  • respite
  • recognitions of previous studies
  • leave of absence
  • courses and allocation
  • programme specific syllabi and literature lists
  • designating examiners

and

  • prepare study plans
  • lead the development work

The Graduate School board can delegate the following decisions to the Director of Studies at Graduate School

  • admission
  • admission to the later part of the programme
  • complementary admission
  • respite
  • recognitions of previous studies
  • leave of absence
