Activities during your 1st Year
Arrival Day is held a few weeks before the official programme start and is the official day for international students to arrive in Lund. Once admitted, you will receive all the information you need to know what to expect on this day. A staff member from Graduate School will be present at Arrival Day to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. More information on Arrival Day and activities for international students at Lund University can be found here.
Lund University organizes a series of events and activities the week after Arrival Day, so make sure you don't miss this! More information can be found here.
The programme introduction is the official start of the programme. On this day you will register to the programme, meet your future classmates, all administrative staff, and receive a tour of important buildings in the area, the student lounge and your future classrooms. You will meet your programme director and be introduced to the programme, and finally you will be met by the head of the department where you will eventually be writing your thesis. It is a long day but we will make sure there is enough food and coffee/tea during the breaks!
Autumn Potluck Dinner
After settling in for a few weeks, we organize an annual potluck dinner, inviting everyone to bring a dish to share with everyone. Soup Lunch with Student Health Services and Student Chaplains
Graduate School will invite you to come eat some warm soup and listen to how the student chaplains and student health services can help you. This event takes place in mid-November when the days are getting darker and the weather gets colder. We believe this is a good time to get together and enjoy each others company.
An annual Swedish holiday, St. Lucia is celebrated with songs, candles on the head, and the Lucia katter, a spiced sweetened bun on the 13th of December. Graduate School has its own Lucia celebration where you will be offered som "mys" with the pastries and non-alcoholic glögg.
